Listening to this remix today just sounds different now that we lost both of these great artists. Dvsn mixes his (the only known persona behind dvsn is a male vocalist) vocals with those of Aaliyah, and he also throws in some lyrics from Prince's "Purple Rain."
Just when you thought The Weeknd’s “Earned It” was the sexiest track your ears
could ever hear, a new remix of the song has upped the arousal ante — and we
are wayyyyyy into it. Fellow R&B prince Trey Songz has
put his own seductive spin on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” soundtrack staple, laying down his velvety
falsetto over the steamy downtempo track. Trey changes up the majority of the
lyrics, but keeps the original sentiment in tact, crooning, “Wanna give you my
all/Do you know I’m afraid to fall?/And I know that your heart is
protective/Wanna be the one to protect it.”

With a consistent piano chord holding down the rhythm with a
pulsing beat, Childish relies a lot on his falsetto to bring us a smooth
R&B track and shows another side to the ’3005′ rapper. Unlike other rappers
who start singing on their songs, it’s pretty clear that Childish Gambino
hasn’t added any frills to his vocals to enhance them. Referring to the object
of his affection as “girl,” you get a Michael Jackson vibe with this track,
which finds him trying to get a certain lady to give him a chance.e He recently
told Hot 97′s Peter Rosenberg that he’s moving away from
rap and heading towards the pop territory with his upcoming mixtape.
For several years, Janelle Monáe has incubated artists at the soundproofed Atlanta headquarters of her Wondaland Arts Society. Now, her Wondaland Records imprint has partnered with Epic. The Wondaland compilation's first offering is Jidenna's "Classic Man," a song featuring Roman GianArthur that's got a radio-friendly beat and throwback message. "'Classic Man' is an anthem for the gentleman who carries himself with dignity and integrity," Jidenna told The FADER via email. The video—or "emotion picture," in Jidenna's words—"is intended to celebrate men who are sharp in mind, body, and style." Personally, I think men can look as brilliant indenimandslouchy sweatsas they can in suspenders, but there's no arguing that the video's director Alan Ferguson (bka Solange's husband) looks terrific in his suit in his cameo here, or thatfeeling comfortable and carrying yourself with grace looks good on everyone.
Wale announced the new single from his upcoming LP,The Album About Nothing, yesterday, and now he's delivered on the promise, hitting us with the radio-ready track, "The Matrimony". Usher guests on the hook, and with "I Don't Mind" getting plenty of airplay, it couldn't be a better time for this collaboration.
This one is definitely the crossover record, which means that the street single should be making it's way out soon. The album drops March 31st, so look out for plenty more from Wale in the coming weeks. How does this one compare to the similar territory on "The Body".
Mack Wilds dedicates this one to "Girls Playin' Tricks"
As an up-and-coming crooner who's also got quite an impressive acting resume, Mack Wilds has no doubt encountered plenty of girls in his line of work. As with most things in life, some are good, some are bad. This one's for the ones who fall in the latter category. "Girls Playin' Tricks" is a very short track that contains some stylistic and lyrical nobs to Geto Boys' classic track "Mind Playing Tricks On Me". Like it, Wilds' song is built around a chill guitar loop and a hook that's similarly structured.
